How We Protect Your Property During a Wash

Cleaning the outside of a home means putting water and solution near things that do not mix with water: outlets, electronics, locks, and electrical boxes. A careful wash is not just about the surface we are cleaning. It is about everything we are cleaning around. Here is exactly what we do to protect your property, and what actually goes wrong when a crew skips it.

We tape off the electrical, inside and out

Before we start, we tape over exposed outlets, and we tape the matching outlet on the inside wall too, for double protection. We also tape locks, doorbells, and high-voltage boxes. Why it matters: water in an energized outlet or an electrical panel can short the circuit, trip your breakers, and create a genuine shock and fire hazard. It is one of the fastest ways a cheap wash turns into an electrician’s bill.

We unplug anything plugged in outside

Cords, string lights, chargers, pumps, anything drawing power outdoors gets unplugged before we work near it. Why it matters: a plugged-in device meeting water is exactly the situation you do not want, both for the device and for safety. Unplugging first removes the risk entirely.

We cover outdoor TVs and electronics

If you have an outdoor TV or similar electronics, we cover them before we clean nearby. Why it matters: “outdoor-rated” does not mean waterproof under a direct wash. One soaked circuit board ruins the whole unit, and that is a replacement cost far bigger than the job. A cover takes seconds.

We protect your locks and doorbells

Locks and video doorbells get taped before the wash. Why it matters: water works its way into a lock cylinder and corrodes it until the key sticks, and a soaked video doorbell can fail permanently. Small parts, expensive to replace, easy to protect.

We remove screens for a window wash

When we are cleaning your windows, we take the screens out first. Why it matters: it lets us actually get the glass clean instead of leaving grime behind the screen, and it keeps the screens themselves from being pushed on, stretched, or torn. They go back when we are done.

We keep your glass clear

We rinse the glass in the work area so it dries clear instead of spotted, and we keep our cleaning where it belongs so your windows are not left cloudy or filmed.

We ask that cars, pets, and kids stay clear

We ask that all vehicles be moved out of the work area before we start, and we will not spray near a car that is in the way. We also ask that pets and children stay inside while we apply and rinse, and we let you know before we start and when we are finished.

Why this matters

Almost every “the washers damaged my house” story comes down to skipped protection: an untaped outlet, a device that was never unplugged, a soaked doorbell. None of it is bad luck. It is preventable with a few minutes of care before the first drop of water, and that care is standard on every job we do.
